Matsa Resources Limited has commenced mining at their Red Dog gold mine, which is located approximately 25km west of Matsa’s Fortitude Gold Mine, 16 km south-west of the Red October gold mine and 7km west of Second Fortune Gold Mine.
The company has stated that all equipment is now on-site, with offices established and blast hole drilling prepared to commence its first blast later in the week.
Results from RC drilling have defined gold mineralisation 2m to 10m below the surface which is relatively flat lying. The resource holds a continuous zone of mineralisation between 1m and 14m thick extending over an area spanning approximately 250m NS and 150m EW.
The Red Dog Mineral Resource estimate totals 368,000 tonnes at 2.2 grams per tonne of gold reaching for 26,300 ounces. Matsa has an agreement with AngloGold Ashanti Australia Limited (AGAA), whereby all gold ore from Red Dog will be treated at AGAA’s Sunrise Dam Gold Mine (SDGM) treatment facilities.
The company also announced late-last week that a drilling programme has commenced to follow up recently discovered bedrock gold mineralisation at Fortitude North within the company’s Lake Carey Gold Project in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.
In July 2018, the company announced that aircore drilling had intersected a new bedrock gold mineralised zone at Fortitude North in excess of 1 km in length, which remains open to the south, and is located just 5km north of Matsa’s Fortitude Gold Mine.
RC drilling commenced on Wednesday 5th September 2018 of the planned five-hole programme.
