BGC Contracting has won the ‘Best Resources Construction Project’ award at the Master Builders Excellence in Construction awards 2017.
The award was for the works undertaken on the Roy Hill Port Landside project for client, Samsung C&T Corporation.
After completing the civil construction of the aerodrome, road and rail for Roy Hill, BGC Contracting was awarded another contract on the project by lead contractor Samsung C&T to progress the Port Landside package, valued in the region of $420M, for a purpose built iron ore port facility in Port Hedland.
The scope for this project consisted of all earthworks, civil works and general infrastructure necessary to develop the landside facilities at the Roy Hill Port.
The scope of work included:
- Bulk earthworks
- Ground improvement (rock displacement, piling, geofabric, soil replacement/stabilisation)
- Rail embankment construction
- Stockyard construction
- Stacker-Reclaimer rail works
- Construction of site access roads
- Culverts and storm water drainage
- Car dumper construction
- Screen buildings
- Rail marshalling yard
- Site dewatering
This project award marked the largest of the four major packages of work that BGC has been awarded on the Roy Hill project.
