Australian Vanadium Limited recently completed the first phase of its RC drilling program and has commenced diamond drilling at the company’s vanadium project near Meekatharra.
The company completed 1089 metres of RC drilling in 14 drillholes. 11 of the holes were targeted infill drilling on the resource and all holes intersected the massive magnetite horizon as planned. Moving forward, AVL has dispatched samples to a laboratory in Perth for analysis.
Three of the drillholes were detailed to be RC pre-collar holes, which will soon be followed up by a short diamond drilling program. This drilling campaign will resolve key parameters required for successful and safe, long-term open pit design and to target a conversion of Inferred to Indicated resources.
The project is currently subject to a Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) and AVL is now collecting essential information for resource, geotechnical, environmental, hydrology and tailings storage within the area. Additionally, AVL has pegged a new exploration licence adjacent to their Gabanintha vanadium mineral resource near Meekatharra, which would further strengthen the company’s dominant mineral rights position in the Gabanintha area.
The new licence (E51/1899) lies south of AVL’s Gabanintha vanadium-titanium-iron mineral resource and to the east of their Nowthanna Hill project (which contains both uranium and vanadium).
“The addition of this strategic tenement provides AVL with the potential to define additional mineral resources and consolidates accessibility to all of our deposits in the Gabanintha area,” commented AVL’s Managing Director, Vincent Algar.
