Western Australian base metals explorer, Auris Minerals Limited has announced significant copper and gold results from Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling which was completed at the Forrest and Wodger Prospects, in Western Australia’s Bryah Basin.
Copper mineralisation at the Forrest Prospect was first discovered in 2014 through re-assaying of previously gold-focused drilling. RC and diamond drilling was completed in the same year to test an interpreted southerly plunge to identified copper mineralisation.
2014 drilling delivered promising results for Auris including 9.65 metres at 5 per cent Copper (Cu) and 1.91 grams per tonne gold (Au) from 142.4 metres.
The November/December 2018 drilling at Forrest was the first drilling at the prospect since then and involved drilling seven RC drill holes for 1,742 metres.
Auris has stated that RC drilling at Forrest was designed to provide further information down dip from previously returned significant RC and diamond drill intersections and to further define the geology and mineralisation to the south where a fault was previously inferred to offset mineralisation.
The most significant results from Auris’ late 2018 RC drilling at Forrest were:
- 33 metres at 1.25 per cent Cu from 276 metres
- 4 metres at 6.33 grams per tonne Au from 12 metres and 12 metres at 4.26 grams per tonne Au from 36 metres.
- 4 metres at 34.1 grams per tonne Au from 12 metres.
The copper mineralisation at the Wodger Prospect was first discovered in 2014 through re-assaying of historical drill spoils. Systematic exploration commenced at Wodger in 2015, which then lead to RC and diamond drilling being predominantly completed in 2017.
The 2017 results returned from RC and diamond drilling included 25 metres at 2.87 per cent Cu and 0.48 grams per tonne Au from 193 metres.
In November/December 2018 Auris performed 10 RC drill holes for 2,182 metres. The drilling aimed to further define and extend mineralisation identified to date and to gain a better understanding of the geometry of mineralisation.
The most significant results from Auris’ late 2018 RC drilling at Wodger were:
- 15 metres at 3.36 per cent Cu and 1.86 grams per tonne Au from 107 metres.
- 6m at 2.8 per cent Cu and 1.51 grams per tonne Au from 305 metres.
In response to these results, Auris has stated that they are ‘encouraged’ that the current drilling expands the potential between the prospects, which are three kilometres apart.
The company is expected to soon follow up with diamond drilling.
