The announcement by the South Australian Government of the world’s biggest virtual power plant is a game changer for South Australians wanting to slash their power bills.
“The best way for families to slash their power bills is to get solar and battery storage and the South Australian Government is making that happen,” said John Grimes, Chief Executive of the Smart Energy Council, the peak national body for the solar, storage and smart energy management industry.
“The Smart Energy Council is very excited that 24,000 Housing Trust properties will receive solar and storage, with a plan for this to be extended to 50,000 homes over four years.”
“Virtual power plants allow families to take control of their power bills, whilst providing greater security for the energy network,” said Mr Grimes.
“This is smart energy and smart leadership from the South Australian Government.”
“South Australia is a world leader on solar, storage and action on climate change, with world-leading renewable energy and emission reduction targets.”
“South Australia has the world’s biggest battery and now it will have the world’s biggest virtual power plant.”
“Premier Jay Weatherill and the South Australian Government should be congratulated for their global leadership on smart energy and action on climate change.”
“The Smart Energy Council will work closely with the South Australian Government to ensure the successful implementation of this important initiative. It is important that families have access to a range of battery manufacturers, new retailers and fully trained installers to provide greater choice, security and value for families.”
“The Smart Energy Council calls on all Australian Governments to work together to deliver smart national energy policy, allowing more Australian families to slash their power bills with solar and storage.”
