Liberty Industrial is a finalist in the 2018 World Demolition Awards and the ALGA Industry Excellence Award, each being prestigious events on the local and world stage.
2018 World Demolition Awards
Liberty Industrial’s Port Kembla Stacker and Reclaimer Deconstruction project is a contender for the 2018 World Demolition Awards. The awards are part of the annual World Demolition Summit, the leading international event for the demolition industry that attracts thousands of demolition industry professionals each year. The awards recognise excellence and best practice in the demolition industry.
Liberty Industrial’s Port Kembla Stacker and Reclaimer Deconstruction project has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Industrial Demolition Award Category.
The project involved the demolition of a stacker and reclaimer at Port Kembla Coal Terminal. The redundant coal handling machines were demolished to make way for new machinery.
Normally a complete shutdown of key operational assets would be required but Liberty Industrial’s methodology enabled the works to be carried out with minimal disruption to the coal terminal’s operations.
Liberty Industrial have four World Demolition Awards under their belt so far including the inaugural overall World Demolition Award and this makes the seventh consecutive year that Liberty Industrial has been nominated as a finalist. Not a bad effort for a company that has only been in operation for 10 years.
Liberty Industrial Director, Simon Gill said “We’re pleased to be recognised for our industrial demolition capability. From humble beginnings, Liberty Industrial has grown into a respected leader in this field. To be nominated in the industrial demolition award category once again, reinforces the integrity of our core business”.
An international judging panel made up of top names in the industry will determine the 2018 award winners. The winners will be revealed at the World Demolition Awards Gala Dinner, to be held in Dublin Ireland on the 8th of November.
ALGA Industry Excellence Award
Liberty Industrial’s Moorebank Intermodal Terminal Demolition and Remediation Project has been named a finalist in the Best Remedial Project (>$1M) award category for the Australian Land and Groundwater Association’s 2018 ALGA Annual Industry Excellence Awards.
The ALGA Annual Industry Excellence Awards are the leading event of the year for Australian contaminated land industry professionals recognising organisational and individual achievements related to contaminated land remediation.
Liberty Industrial’s Moorebank Intermodal Terminal Demolition and Remediation project has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Best Remedial Project over $1M award category.
The project involved the delivery of three separate demolition, remediation and site preparation work packages associated with the construction of Australia’s largest Intermodal Terminal.
Individually each work package comprised a large and diverse scope of work but when combined and executed concurrently these three work packages formed an extensive and complex civil demolition and land remediation undertaking.
Liberty Industrial’s General Manager David Wood said “Liberty Industrial’s nomination in the Best Remedial Project award category showcases our expanding remediation and civil capabilities and further strengthens our position as one of Australia’s leading demolition and remediation contractors.
“Liberty Industrial’s Moorebank project is an excellent demonstration of the company’s transition from a predominately industrial demolition contractor to a fully integrated demolition, remediation and civil contractor, executing large scale projects in the land development and infrastructure construction sector.”
“The nomination is a testament to our people and any recognition they get is well-deserved. Well done to everyone involved with the project and thank you all for your hard work.”
An evaluation committee comprised of experienced professionals from across the contaminated land industry will determine the 2018 award winners. The winners will be announced at the ALGA Annual Industry Excellence Awards Gala Dinner on Thursday 8th November at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf.
